As a freelance writer and broadcaster JR has written extensively for more than 30 newspapers and magazines across the US, Canada and Europe. He is currently the LA Kings blogger for THN.com, the website of The Hockey News, considered by most to be the bible of hockey. He also has a new radio show at Buzz95.com. The show is called JR Reed Saturday Nights and it airs on Saturday night at 7 PM Pacific. JR currently co-hosts three shows at KLBC in Long Beach--the hugely popular Good Times (alongside Niya & Nathan. Fri. from 11-noon), the totally funny Happy Hour with Megan Murray (Mon. & Wed. 11-noon) and the highest rated sports show in the history of KLBC, Talking Sports with Wes & JR, where he kicks it with Wes The Sports Guy (Tues. 2-4 PM & Fri. 7-9:30 PM). He is also the color analyst for the Long Beach Armada baseball team and Long Beach City College athletics.
His work has been seen regularly in Face Off magazine in Europe as well as more than 30 appearances in OC Metro over a three-year period. He has also written several pieces for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim’s game program, Mighty Ducks Digest. Jason writes a lot of features and column-type pieces with a humorous slant. Sometimes it is about sports, others it as about his time as a single full-time dad raising a daughter, while still others will be things that people hear about in the course of a day.
Currently you can see JR’s work at www.hockeytalk.biz where he writes a column called J.R.’s Rink Rants. Jason is also a regular guest on Duck Calls, the post game radio show of the Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks hosted by Josh Brewster on AM 830.
While covering the first ever Mighty Ducks Fantasy Camp I was invited to grab my gear and skate with the team. I even played in the "Big Game" at the end of the camp. I was paired with Mighty Ducks head coach Mike Babcock on defense and I assisted on a pair of Babcock goals and even managed to drop in one of my own. Not bad for a guy who grew up near the beach...
